LuxPowerTek Setup with Octopus Agile
I recently had my LuxPowerTek inverter setup to use Octopus Agile. This needs to be turned on by your installer. Once it is turned on the web interface will look like this.
On the left hand side you will see how many slots you have chosen to charge with. You have the choice of night and day. By default, it is set to 4 at night and 2 during the day. On the right hand side you can see the nighttime window (midnight to 8am) and the daytime window (Noon-4pm).
I have set ours to three slots overnight. I don’t want to charge the battery too much. If the next day is very sunny the battery will become full and will lead to exporting to the grid. Three slots charges the battery to around 70%. The daytime Agile slots haven’t made it worthwhile to charge during the day
Clicking on the Management button you can configure the charging slots. As you can see I have selected three slots. The most important thing to know is, you have to make any changes before the system downloads the next Agile prices for the next day. This seems to happen around 4pm. If you don’t do this the changes won’t take affect for another day
You also have the option to charge on price. I have not used this option.
Clicking on the View button will show you the slots that will be used. You can see all the available time slots. The cheapest is listed first. As you can see we used 4 slots (the green ticks) on the 19th February. I changed it to 3 before the prices are released for the 20th
The Maintain GUI will look like this once Octopus Charge has been turned on. When this page loads it does not show you the settings values. You have to press the Read button at the top.
Notice the AC Charge and Force Discharge has been turned on. Note that there are no times set. This is because the charging is controlled by Octopus Charge.
You can control when the battery will discharge. As we are charging the batter overnight and that is when the cheapest Octopus Agile slots are we have told the battery not to discharge between midnight and 6am
Below is what a 4 slot overnight charge looks like on the Monitor web page
