Best export and saving days

Last updates - 2 September 2024

We joined Octopus Agile Export on March 25th 2023. As Octopus Agile Export is variable it means the best cost day, could be different to the best export day. This was not the best tariff to be on. In 2024 we moved to the fixed export tariff which is 15p per kWh

The best export day was the 20th August 2024 with 25.90 kWh. This generated a saving of £3.89 with an export rate of 0.15p per kWh. This was a mixture of solar and battery discharge.

The cheapest day we have had was the 20th August 2024 where the daily cost was -£3.48. This did also included some plunge pricing. Octopus had some API issues on this day. The below does not show all the data.

My introduction to computers started at my middle school in 1981 when our maths teacher brought in a ZX80. That led the computer club being founded and using a Research Machine 380Z

My first computer was a 48K ZX Spectrum which I loved to programme. Once I left school I worked as a photocopier engineer, then a fax engineer and finally moving on the Apple computers.

For the next 30 years I worked as a system administrator. I now work in the cyber security industry as a Sophos Professional Services consultant
