March’s Solar Generation Numbers

Here is the overview for March 2023

All in all it was a good month. The end of the month was a bit poor and could have been even better.

The worst generation day was the 9th with only 2 kWh and the best was the 27th when 17.8 kWh was generated. That was an all time record.

This was our first month with SEG. The best export day was the 2nd with 3.1 kWh, but that was before we joined SEG. The best export day after SEG was the 24th with 2.5 kWh.

The graph below is the total generation for March. Some of the battery came from the Octopus Agile overnight charging. More on that at the bottom of this post

Overview for March

Generation and usage statistics

The graph below shows the generation each day

Production for the month

The graphs below show the generation split between the front and back panels

Front panel production

Back panel production. The back is improving, but still needs to get higher in the sky and above the neighbours houses

Octopus Agile

The cost shown here do not include the standing charge. Any comparisons are compared to the until cost if we were not on Octopus Agile, which is 35.06p per kWh

For the month of March the average unit cost Octopus Agile was 26p

Our electricity cost for March was £55.18 compared to £84.79 on the the standard tariff, this is a saving of £30.70 comparing Agile to the standard tariff. The solar generated £91.35 using the standard until rate of 35.060p per kWh. I will update the export numbers next month.

We have been charging the battery each night using the cheapest overnight Agile slots. The average cost of the overnight slots was 22p per kWh. The cheapest slot used was 0.2205p per kWh the most expensive slot used was 28.5075 per kWh

The percentage of our electricity generated by the solar panels for March was 60%
