April’s Solar Generation and Export Numbers

Here is the overview for April 2023. This is our first full month on the Octopus Agile Export tariff.

April was by far the best month so far.

The worst generation day was the 1st with only 5.4 kWh and the best was the 29th when 27.0 kWh was generated.

The best export day was the 20th with 12.2 kWh

The graph below is the total generation for April. Some of the battery came from the Octopus Agile overnight charging. More on that at the bottom of this post.

Octopus Agile

The costs shown here does include the standing charge. Any comparisons are compared to the until cost if we were not on Octopus Agile, which is 35.06p per kWh

For the month of April the average unit cost Octopus Agile Import was 23.68p. The average unit cost Octopus Agile Export was 11.66p

Our best export day by cost was the 29th with £1.35. The average Agile export rate for that day was 11.58p kWh

Our electricity cost from the grid for April was £25.98 compared to £39.88 on the standard tariff, this is a saving of £31.33 comparing Agile to the standard tariff once the export is also added.

The solar generated £182.77 using the standard until rate of 35.060p per kWh.

In total we exported 150 kWh and made £17.54.

We have been charging the battery each night much less than other months. This month we used 16 half hour slots. In March we used 81. The average cost of the overnight slots used was 12p per kWh. The cheapest slot was -5.733p per kWh the most expensive slot was 21.81p per kWh

The percentage of our electricity generated by the solar panels for April was 128%. We generated 521.3 kWh compared to the house consumption of 408.3 kWh. Some of that house consumption includes the Solar iBoost. That used 25.27 kWh of the solar we produced.

The best profit day was 25th. We made 83p. Import cost was 45p, the export was £1.28
